Welcome to Scarborough and District Tennis Association. The league offers competitive mixed tennis for clubs in and around  Scarborough. Although the date when it was launched is unclear at the moment it is certainly at least 60 years old as the first division cup was won by the now defunct Falsgrave Tennis Club in 1949. In those days most clubs would probably have been "lawn tennis"  whereas now the majority of surfaces are  hard, though grass courts are still available at Hackness , Malton and Filey tennis clubs. There are currently three leagues with seventeen clubs in total. Division one currently has six teams, division two also has six teams and division three has five teams. We are always keen for new teams to join, if you are a new team who would like to join please download an application for below.

Clubs with two or more teams must name players in all but the lowest team. Clubs with one team require no named players. With two teams the A team should be named. With three teams the A and B teams should be named. Named players , or un-named players, can play up but not down . Therefore named  A team players cannot play for the B or C teams .Named B team players cannot play for the C team but can play up for the A team. Named players should be fit for play at the beginning of the season . Clubs should fill in an application form for named players each season. Terry Oulton was re-elected. Mandy Hillier, secretary and David Johnson, treasurer, were also re-elected. Mandy said it had been a difficult summer for arranging fixtures because of the poor weather. Enclosed. David said Scalby league subs were outstanding . Scarborough has not paid subs for two seasons – amount owed was between £70 - £90 . Wendy Hurworth asked how long reminders were supposed to be given and Wendy Jackson suggested a subs reminder note go out with the fixture list . Mandy will contact the Scarborough treasurer about the debt. Wendy Jackson said she had tried four times to arrange a match in this competition with Scarborough A , but their capt., Roger Amstell, did not come back to her. Brian Atkinson suggested the DC format was outdated. It was agreed the competition was not a success and the format be changed . It was decided to make some enquiries at Pindar tennis centre to possibly run an alternative competition there retaining the DC name. Whitby B and Danby are both struggling for players and have asked to form a combined team. It was agreed this could be done and that half home fixtures be played at Whitby and half at Danby. Avril asked for the dates on the fixture list to be printed UK format rather than American format. Malton has withdrawn its B team from the league. At present there are 16 teams in the league. Wendy Hurworth asked for a repeat of the junior coaching grant . It was agreed that clubs could apply to the league for £40 towards jnr. coaching when their coaching programme was arranged. Avril said Hackness apologised it did not organise the league presentation evening due to a mix up . Instead the club is hoping to do it next October possibly at the new Scarborough Rugby Club. Brian Atkinson asked if a list of named players could be sent to clubs – it was agreed. Mandy asked for more e-mail addresses to make communication easier.
